woo hoo audrey's hair can be donated to locks of love!
Thank you so much for your email and for thinking of the Locks of Love
children.

Thank you for your recent email.

As our websites states, 10 inches is the minimum length we require in order
to be able to use the hair on one of our pieces.

We can accept shorter hair donations between 6-10 inches, and gray hair
donations 6" inches or longer, although it is unsuitable for us to use, we
can sell it to our manufacturer and the proceeds are used to offset our
manufacturing costs, so indirectly, your gift will still help!

Just follow the normal steps for a donation as posted below:

Guidelines:

The haircut may be done by any salon or anyone else. You can just go to your
regular salon and tell them what you are doing and why. Most salons are more
than happy to participate. Some people even cut it at home.

* We require 10" or longer in a braid or ponytail, clean and dry, in order
to use the hair on one of our pieces.
* WE DO accept curly hair. (you may flat iron, blow dry or simply pull it
straight to measure).
* WE DO accept hair with split ends, angled or layered hair. These issues
will be taken care of while the hairpiece is being prepared.
* We DO accept colored and permed hair .
* We DO accept shorter hair lengths (a minimum of six inches) and gray hair
.
These are separated from the other ponytails, because they are unsuitable to
make a child's hairpiece.
We sell them in bulk and the proceeds help us with our administrative and
manufacturing costs.
* We DO NOT accept any chemically damaged hair.
* We DO NOT accept any hair that has been bleached or highlighted, even if
it is colored over. (this is considered chemically damaged and will
dissolve when processed before making the child's hairpiece).
* We DO NOT accept dreadlocks, wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic
hair. Our manufacturer is not able to use them in our children's hairpieces.

If you are not sure if your hair falls within our guidelines or have
question about any products you have used, please consult your stylist.

How to send in a donation:

1. Place hair in a ziploc bag
2. Place ziploc bag in a padded manila envelope
3. Include the donation form or a separate sheet of paper with the name and
address of the donor
4. Send regular mail, UPS, Fed Ex, or any way you prefer. (I suggest using a
tracking number, confirmation of delivery or signature receipt). We DO NOT
keep a database of every hair donation and therefore cannot verify if hair
has been received.
It is separated immediately upon receipt and cannot be traced.
