i just got back from my handwriting helper training class. im so excited! who knew handwriting could be so much fun?!
i was sort of interested in volunteering when the memo first came home, but i really signed up when i heard no one else from our class did. well geeze they dont know what they are missing!! and im being serious! this is an oppertunity to work one-on-one for 10 mins twice a week with up to 6 kids a session. it will be great for these kids and im sure it will be great for me too. handwriting is so important. i had a lot of trouble with handwriting in grade school and that still stays with me. it surprises me even to realize how emotional upsetting it is to rememeber being singled out & pencil grip back then, and even now im very conscience of my handwriting. so hopefuly i'll be able to provide these childern with a great base to start their education! :)

*edit

i know i probably made it sound like a penmanship class but the main point is to get the students to be at a place where letter formation is automomatic & to have a system in place for writing letters.
if you ever seen my posts on the baby board about not pushing kids to write early this is why! there are different methods of teaching handwriting and i would encourage finding out what your school district uses and if you want to teach use that.
also the new babysitter went fine :)
