what would you do if could go back as the adult you are today and meet that person who first told that you couldnt sing or dance or draw or crushed that joyful innocence that we all had as a child?
i see that sparkle in maxwell's eyes in that picture below. we took out my 1st grade photo to show max & audrey, and its there too, but what has happened? who is it that tells us we cant do things that come naturally to us all?
there is a pablo picasso quote i love:
"every child is an artist. the problem is how to remain an artist once you grow up."
a few years ago i remember driving and listening to a story on NPR about how only in industrailized nations people are shy about singing and we prefer other to sing for us. before everyone would get together and sing and it was community event no matter how your voice sounded.
now that i got some of that out, i'll go be creative and knit for a bit and maybe sing along with my ipod and try not to care if shawn hears me, beside he says he likes to hear me sing that way he knows im happy.
