microwave

i dont have a microwave. in the seven years since i have established my own home i havent ever owned one. never really missed it with the exception of the occasional bag of microwave popcorn. now i have an air popper so thats good.
but i was thinking of looking for a hotplate on freecycle.org for dying wool, melting candle wax and soap base. but now i'm wondering if i should get a microwave for craft purposes only. how strange would that be?!
